William "Bill" George Schneider, age 63, of De Pere (formerly of Torrance, CA), passed away, December 16, 2017, due to a stroke. He was born April 28, 1954 in Bismarck, ND, son of the late George Schneider and Marie (Dirk) Schneider.
The family moved to Torrance, CA at the age of 3 where Bill attended Nativity Catholic School and then Narbonne High School. He started drumming in high school and was in his own award-winning band. He was always neat and organized, which led to working in shipping and receiving at Farr Company (where he worked with his dad), Rockwell International (on the B-1 Bomber Project) and McDonnell Douglas Aerospace. He also ran his own DJ business called The BAD Brothers.
Bill married Sherrie Cole in 1997 and they shared 17 years together. Bill and Sherrie lived in Las Vegas for much of that time. After Bill suffered a stroke in 2000, they moved back to Torrance. After Sherrie passed away unexpectedly, Bill and his mother moved to Wisconsin in 2004.
Although Bill was an avid Steelers fan, he got a seasonal job at the Packers Pro Shop Warehouse. He loved his job and his coworkers.
He struggled throughout his life with diabetes and heart problems, but he rarely complained. He always wanted to be productive and helpful. Work gave him a sense of purpose and pride.
Bill was passionate about music, food and playing games with his family.
Bill is survived by his mother, Marie Schneider; brothers: Danny, Jeff and Mark (Macha) Schneider and sisters, Jolene (Wayne) Wichlacz and Teri (Chris) Lyga. He is further survived by nieces: Stephanie Wichlacz, Ali (Gareth) Baur and Hannah Schneider; nephews: Chris, Adam and Bryan Schneider, David and Michael Wichlacz and James Lyga; step-daughters, Brandi (Brian Chapman) Cole and Amber Fields and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherrie, his father, George and a brother, Joseph.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER CREMATIONS, FUNERALS & RECEPTIONS (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 4 to 6:30 PM. A funeral service will follow at 6:30 PM with Ann Froelich officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in Bill's name are appreciated.
Bill's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their compassionate care and hospitality.
