William (Mr. Bill) S. Ellerbee, 65; joined cherished family
and friends in heaven on January 26th, 2013 after a severe stroke.
Bill was born July 23, 1947 to Myrtle (Simmons) and William Sherman Ellerbee in Queens, New York. He grew up learning the big city life and spending time in the roots of the Carolinas with his father's extended family. Barbados was the roots of Myrtle's family and always called to him though he never got there enough.
As a young man; Bill was drafted and served our country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his third injury he had to come home. Complications kept Bill disabled; but he worked at different careers when able. City Inspector in New York; Prison guard; Tool and Die Shop; Youth Counselor; welder; to Packer Parking were highlights. Bill was never afraid to try something new.
After the war: Bill's marriage to Sati (Katherine Ryan) Sefni-Ra
gave them a beautiful daughter Simone. Simone and husband Pete blessed all with grandson Ryland Coltrane Lang in 2005. After years of single life Bill met Carol Sickler and they joined in marriage on July 30th, 2007.
When you see the saying "Been there; done that." look for a picture of Mr. Bill. Bill enjoyed traveling to anywhere at any time. He enjoyed meeting as many people as he could and touched every life he came into
contact with - leaving countless pleasant memories.
Bill loved nature and campfires. The campsite at Green's Acres was his home away from home. Many a good fire with many good friends. Fishing was always a favorite pastime. Spending time with his dog Red was priceless. Sports was a passion. A devoted New York Yankee fan melded with a die heart Packer fan and many hats in between. Yes Bill loved
hats. Throw in a good boxing match or basketball game….the party is on!
Bill was preceded in death by his loving mother Myrtle E. (Ellerbee)
Watson and his father William Sherman Ellerbee. Bill is survived by his wife Carol (Sickler) Ellerbee: step son Steven (Beka Hoffman) A. Sickler ; Green Bay, WI: beloved daughter Simone (Pete Lang) Ryan;
Houston, TX: and the pride of his life - grandson Ryland Coltrane Lang. Bill will be dearly missed by loving extended family.
Bill is remembered fondly by all he knew. His favorite sign off has always been "Smile! - Mr. Bill" so as we reflect upon this extraordinary man that touched our lives…..please smile and know he loved you.
Friends may call from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Tappa officiating.
