With his daughters by his side, our Lord and Savior called home William Earl Morris (92) of Hobart, WI on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
William Earl Morris was born on February 3, 1932 in Midland, MI to the late Francis and Eunice (Baylis) Morris. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1950.
In 1952, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and trained as an aviation structural mechanic. He was assigned to serve in Atsuji, Japan during the end of the Korean conflict. He enjoyed belonging to a Marine boxing club and playing football in the Japanese Rice Bowl. Bill attained the rank of "buck" sergeant (E-4) and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was merited an honorable discharge June 20, 1955. He returned to Michigan to marry his high school sweetheart, Helen Coston on June 25.
Upon graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in urban planning, his career took him to Texas, Hawaii, California, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Bill and Helen settled in De Pere, WI and became faithful members of the First United Methodist Church.
His favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:1, "Therefore, is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
Bill will be sadly missed by his daughters, Jennifer (Tim) Wargula and Lisa (Jeff) Miller; grandchildren: Alan (Emily Van Ness) Wargula, Samuel Wargula, Sierra (Luke) Steuerwald, Kirk (Annie) Miller and Jackson (Kristi) Miller; and nine great-grandchildren: Wesley, Silas, Phoebe, Jubilee, Evangeline, Abel, Isaac, Kylie and Henry. Bill also leaves his sisters: Ethelyn Meredith, Carolyn Kribs, Claudia (Gary) Hultgren and sister-in-law, Marcy Morris.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen; his parents; his brothers, Bob Morris and Gene (Patty) Morris; brother-in-laws, Dennis Meredith and Jerry Kribs; and great-granddaughter, Hannah.
A short visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 3-3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 501 Howe Street, Green Bay. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m.
