William J. Jauquet

April 16, 1917 — April 16, 2014

William (Bill) J. Jauquet, 97, Green Bay, a man of faith, a dedicated father and a successful businessman passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. He was born April 16, 1917 to the late John and Julia (Cleereman) Jauquet. He married Claudia Schauer on June 14, 1941 at St. Kilian's Catholic Church in New Franken. The love of his life preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 2007.

Bill graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul Grade School, St. Norbert High School and Badger Business College before starting his career in the lumbering industry in 1937 with Cleereman & Jauquet Lumber Co., Newald, WI. One of his first responsibilities was to assist over 100 employees with signing up for a new law, Social Security. In 1945 he and his father started the Jauquet Lumber Co. sawmill operation in Newald. He had experience in all aspects of a logging operation including lumber grading, log buying, and business manager. In 1955 after returning to Green Bay, WI., he started Jauquet Lumber Co. Inc. He continued to work at the lumber company until 2013.

He was active within the community throughout his life. He was a charter member and Trustee of St. Bernard Parish and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Preble Optimists, Elks Club, Green Bay Area Retired Men's Club, Thursday Breakfast Club and the Holy Name Society. He was an avid hunter, a very good dancer, enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and was a long-time bowler including many years with the Rentmeester Oil and the KC teams. He was a founder of Woodside Golf Course but a reluctant golfer. Bill had an incredible memory, a gentlemanly manner, and an ever-present sense of humor.

Bill and Claudia were the proud parents of seven children whom they encouraged by their lifelong examples of faith, hard work, generosity, and community service: William (Patricia) Jauquet, Baltimore, MD; Donald (Susan) Jauquet, Green Bay; Barbara (Thomas) Rawling, Waunakee, WI; John (Kathleen) Jauquet, Green Bay, James Jauquet and special friend, Mary Cuene, Green Bay; Debra Jauquet, Danvers, MA; Joe (Michelle) Jauquet, Green Bay. They both loved and spoiled fourteen grandchildren Mary (Ed) Kurek, Rebecca (Erik) Shumaker, Elizabeth (James) Kehrman, Joseph (Magaly) Jauquet, William (Heather) Jauquet, Michael (Kim) Jauquet, Mary (Peter) Fahndrich, Andrew (Beth) Jauquet, Brett (Shannon) Rentmeester, Brody (Jocelyn) Rentmeester, Christine (Andrew) Crane, Kevin Jauquet, Sam Jauquet and Ben Jauquet. He was a loving great grandfather to 29 great grandchildren.

He is further survived by sister-in-law, Julia Bourguignon, De Pere and Dale (Bea) Englebert, Dyckesville. He was preceded in death by his sister Beatrice (Frank) Pudlo and two infant brothers, Arnold and John.
