William (Bill) Gillis, of Green Bay, WI, passed away June 11, 2023. He was born on July 6, 1934 in Green Bay. He was the son of the late William and Mary (Vincent) Gillis, Sr. He was a graduate of East High School in Green Bay, class of 1953. Bill married Rita Jasch of Marinette, WI on May 17, 1963 at SS. Peter and Paul Church. Rita preceded him in death on February 3, 1990.
Bill worked for James River Corp. from September 19, 1977 to June 1, 1995. Bill enjoyed all outdoor activities, including camping, fishing and snowmobiling, especially the time at his vacation home in Crivtiz. Bill was also an avid sports fan as he loved his Packers, Brewers and wrestling.
Bill is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Sharilyn and Pete Schwarzenbart of Green Bay and Stephanie and Randy Belschner of Helena, MT; one son, Christopher Gillis and Marilyn Gruetzmacher of Crivitz, WI; five grandchildren, Aaron (Katelyn) Belschner and Meghan (Braxton) Rouns, Cody (Kimberly) Gillis, Heaven, and Ricky Gillis; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Jean and Al Saunier of Menominee, MI, Shirley and John Danner of Sheboygan, WI, Robert Jasch of Crivitz, Annette Jasch and Tim Gaylord of Marinette, and seven nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Gillis; his wife of 27 years, Rita Gillis; one infant son, Randy Gillis; two brothers, Elmer (Elaine) Gillis of Wausau and Walter (Eileen) Gillis of Green Bay; one sister, Beatrice (Edsel) DeBaker of Green Bay; nieces Diane (Wilbert) McGuire of Green Bay and Mary Ann (James) Schuster of Wausau; and brother-in-law Dennis Jasch of Peshtigo.

There will be a visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16th with an 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions at 340 S. Monroe Avenue. Private family entombment will be at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Green Bay.
