William "Bill" Drabes, 82, of Green Bay, beloved husband of 59 years to Donna (Verhaagh) Drabes, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Cardinal Ridge Assisted Living in hospice care.
Bill was born on July 30, 1939 in Green Bay, son of the late Neil and Margaret (Wolf) Drabes. He was a graduate of Premontre High School. He earned his Associates Degree in Business from the College of Business. Bill served in the U.S. Army Reserves obtaining the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged. Bill met Donna while working at the Green Bay Press Gazette, they later married on January 20, 1962 St. John the Baptist Church in Howard. Together they raised their family of three children making their home in Green Bay. He worked as a Delivery Driver for several area businesses including a beer distributor, Mrs. Karl's Bakery, Hostess, and later retiring from Holsum Bakeries. Bill also owned and operated "The Bottle Shop" in Sturgeon Bay. Bill owned a boat and enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan for Brown Trout and Salmon. He also enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. Bill was always known to keep himself busy with projects, later in life when he was disabled that didn't stop him and he kept as busy as ever. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish in Scott. Bill was a hard working man, he took wonderful care of his family and provided a great life for his wife, children and grandson.
He will be forever remembered by his three children: Paul Drabes, Linda Clarke, and Kathleen (Mitchell) Magnin. Bill also leaves his grandson, Taylor Clarke. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna and son-in-law William Clarke.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals & Receptions from 12 PM - 2 PM. A service celebrating his life will full military honors will follow at 2 PM. Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Bill's family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the wonderful care give to him by the staff of Cardinal Ridge and Unity Hospice. Your care and concern made his final journey much easier and allowed him to pass with dignity and peace.
