Wilhelmina "Willy" Petersen passed away unexpectedly in Green Bay on June 30, 2022.
She was born in Gouda, Holland to Cornelius and Johanna Cabout on July 28, 1939.
At the age of 9 she immigrated to the United States with her family and settled in Green Bay. She graduated from East High School and worked for the telephone company in Green Bay. In her younger days she was an avid traveler and loved to go back and visit her homeland, Holland, with her favorite traveling partner, her mom. On May 27, 1972 she married the love of her life, James Petersen and together they shared 44 years of marriage and had 2 beautiful daughters. Jim and Willy thoroughly enjoyed just spending time together, and always shared a nightly cocktail hour.
She loved flowers, and enjoyed spending her time knitting, reading, gardening and above all, spending time with her family. She was always up for going out and enjoying any activity or adventure with her family. She was such an amazing caretaker and was always there to help out with anything, anytime. At 74 she found her new passion, and that was becoming a grandmother. She and Jim (Oma and Opa) were wholeheartedly invested in assuming this new role, and quickly created a lifelong bond with their only grandchild, August, "her liefy".
Willy is survived by her daughters, Erika (Donny) Schoen and Marsha (Brian) Dombroski, grandson, August James, her brother Pieter (Karen) Cabout, sister in law, JoAnn Byrne, cousins and life long friends, Donna Wesley and Gertie Bunker, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Cees (Rose) Cabout.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.
