Wayne John "Jack" Calewarts, 81, Suamico, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born October 5, 1933, in West De Pere, to Roland and Hattie (Schmechel) Calewarts. On September 22, 1956 he married the late Nora H. Bender, at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay.Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage. After graduating from West High School he proudly served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He then went to work for Olson Trailer and Body, as a draftsman and then as a sailesman for many years. He also worked a few years at Green Bay Packaging until his retirement.
He loved the outdoors, spending time with Nora at their cottage, on Pelican Lake. Besides fishing, he also liked to hunt at the cabin at Long Lake and in the winter, spent time bowling in numerous leagues at Village Lanes, in Howard. A trip and vacation he spoke of often was to Alaska with his brother Leon and sister-in-law Gladys.
He is survived by his children, Lamar (Brenda) Calewarts and daughter Krisanne Treptow (her special friend Chris) and grandson Colten Treptow, with whom he spent a lot of time. Wayne is further survived by a sister Lois J. Johnston (Bill) and brother Leon (Gladys) Calewarts, two sisters-in-law, Virginia Vandeleest Green Bay and Janet Holtz, Milwaukee.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Nora, Febuary 20, 2011 his parents and in-laws, Fenton Jr., Ralph and Johnny Bender, Diane Frisque and Brothers-in-law Robert Vandeleest, Arnold Holtz, and Hillary Frisque.
Friends and relatives may call at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S Madison St, Green Bay, WI on Monday May 4, 2015 from 10AM to 11:45AM. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Full military honors will take place immediately following the service in the church parking lot. Interment will be in Suamico Cemetery at 3:20PM.
