Violet June (Lemke) Kempfert, 87, Green Bay, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013.
She was born on June 16, 1926, to the late Reinhard & Martha (Brandenburg) Lemke.
Violet married Walter Kempfert on June 25, 1944, he preceded her in death on January 13, 1988.
Violet & Walter owned a dairy farm near Maribel from 1944 until 1976. They were awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer award in 1955. There they raised their four children. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Maribel. Violet was a loving mother and grandmother, raising her family in a Christian environment. In 1976, they moved to Green Bay. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her four children, Dianne (Harlie) Zahn, Green Bay, Richard (Sue) Kempfert, Waupaca, David ( Mary Lou) Kempfert, Weyauwega, and Dennis (Laura) Kempfert, Kiel; grandchildren, Daniel (Tina) Zahn, Michael Zahn, Kay Dee (Joe) Ruppert, Joel Kempfert, Jonathan Kempfert, Johannah Kempfert, Mark Kempfert, and Rebecca Kempfert; great grandchildren, Sarah Zahn, Noah Zahn, Bethany Ruppert and Aaron Ruppert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; grandson, James Kempfert; parents, Reinhard & Martha Lemke; brother & sister-in-law, Elroy (Delores) Lemke; sisters, Irmgaard Krueger and Alma (Herbert) Siebert; in-laws, Paul (Gertrude) Kempfert, Emma (Gust) Mueller and Esther (Alvin) Dorn.
Friends may call from 2:30pm until the time of service on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 514 S. Clay St., Green Bay. A funeral service will be held at 3:30pm on Wednesday at the church with Pastor Jon Zabell officiating.
