Violet E. Berhausen, age 95, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 14, 2024. She was born October 16, 1928 in Winter, WI, daughter of the late Marcus and Signe (Sjolin) Anderson.
Violet's parents immigrated from Sweden and passed their Swedish heritage on to Violet and her five brothers. She was very proud of her heritage and passed along many of the traditions and customs to her own family. While on leave from his military service, Violet met Joseph Berhausen. The couple married in July of 1947 and celebrated 32 years of marriage before Joe passed away in November of 1979. Violet and Joseph raised their children in a home on the Couderay River, which Joe built with his own hands. Vi always said that she didn't know what she would have done to keep the kids entertained without that river.
Vi relocated to Green Bay after Joe passed, in order to be closer to her family. She embraced her new life in Green Bay, especially with her love of the Green Bay Packers. You would find her watching every Packer game, no questions asked. Violet enjoyed her coffee! Her family was her pride and joy. You rarely saw Vi without a cup of coffee in one hand and a baby in the other!
Violet is survived by her children: Judy (Larry) Brickner, Barb (Tom) Gomach, Sandy (Jay) Verhulst, Carol (Scott) Fonder, Joe (Shannon) Berhausen and Susan (Thomas) Witek; 13 grandchildren: Sherri, Mandy, Larry, Chad, Josh, Barrett, Tommy, Erin, Heidi, Nathan, Hannah, Anna and Cade; many, many great-grandchildren and her brother, Rudolph Anderson. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; a daughter, Deanna (Bob) Buckwheat; 2 grandchildren, Robby and Emily; a great-grandchild, Isaiah; 4 brothers: Ernest (Helen), Wilbur, Richard (Helen) and George (Phyllis) Anderson; sister-in-law, Nellie Anderson and a special cousin/honorary sister, Dagmar Noel.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Friday, April 26, 2024 from 1 to 3 PM. A funeral service will follow at 3 PM.
