Vernon Anthony Nowicki, 70, of Green Bay, passed away on June 19, 2016 due to cancer. He was born, June 3, 1946, Red Bank, NJ, son of Leo and Marian (Piotrowski) Nowicki.
Vern graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary, then received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin after one year at St. Norbert College. He then earned a Master's degree from the University of Missouri after which he did post-graduate work at the University of Kansas.
Vern was married to Krystyna Marcinkowski for a short time. Vern worked as an insurance underwriter before moving overseas to do the job he loved-teaching. He taught in China, Poland and Saudi Arabia. Vern enjoyed sports and jazz. Vern was also avidly involved in genealogy and was the historian for the extended family.
Vernon is survived by his mother, Marian; brother, David (Fay) Nowicki; nephews: Tad Nowicki, Syd Ebsolo and Jake Nowicki; sister, Patricia (Thomas) Glime; nephews: Scott (Tiffani) Glime, Chris Glime and Nicolas Glime and niece, Angela Glime and uncle, Eugene Piotrowski.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Nowicki.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay),Wednesday, June 22, 2016, from 4:00 PM. to 6:45 PM. A prayer service will be held at 7 PM. Visitation will continue at ST. WILLEBRORD PARISH (209 S. Adams St., Green Bay), Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery, Pulaski, WI.
Vern resided at Quality Inn & Suites and his family wishes to thank the staff and friends there for their kind help and assistance. We would also like to thank Unity Hospice for their caring aid and comfort.
