Verdane E. "Vicki" Hill, 93, Green Bay, was called by her Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021. She was born April 27, 1927 to the late Erwin and Harriet (Meltz) Knaack in Neenah, WI.
Verdane graduated from Neenah High School in 1945. During her high school years, she was an excellent dancer, and was always at many of the local dances of the Neenah and Appleton area. In the fall of 1945, Verdane met a returning Air Force Cadet, Harry R. Hill. They fell in love and were married Dec 21, 1946 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Neenah, WI. The first 2 years of marriage were spent in Chicago where her husband, Harry R. Hill attended and graduated from DeVry Technical Institute. Verdane and Harry settled in Green Bay, WI in 1948 and raised their family.
Verdane was involved in service work. She was in the Bellin Auxiliary for 10 years. She was a member of the Altar Guild of Grace Lutheran Church for many years. Verdane resided at Bornemann Nursing Home for over 8 years. Harry would visit her twice a day, EVERY day until his death in 2016.
Survivors include her 3 sons: Gary (Elizabeth) Hill, Oneida, WI, Gregory (Mary) Hill, Aurora, CO and Bradley Hill, Chicago, IL; 6 grandchildren: Carrie Schulz, Chadwick Hill, Abbey Hill, Adam Hill, Tyler Hill and Kyle Hill and 4 great-grandchildren: Olivia and Ava Schulz, Riley and Hunter Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her devoted husband of almost 70 years, Harry R. Hill.
No funeral services will be held due to the COVID-19 virus spread. The family will have Verdane entombed next to her husband at Star if Hope Mausoleum, Appleton, WI, in the Spring. Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
