Vera Hazaert (Waye) formerly of Savannah, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 1, 2013 in Green Bay, WI with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was born on February 27, 1933 to the late Rufus H Waye and Sallie (Connor) Waye of Savannah, Georgia.
Vera married George C Hazaert on July 26th, 1952 in Savannah. Shortly afterwards, they moved to George's home town of Green Bay where they raised their family of four children. George preceded her in death on March 28th, 2010.
Vera was a member of Celebration Church in Green Bay. She taught Sunday School for many years at First Assembly of God where she was an active member. She also volunteered her time in the community and in Howe School tutoring children. Vera was a 1982 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.
Survivors include three sons and one daughter; Larry (Yvonne) Hazaert of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Dan Hazaert of Madeira Beach, Florida, Randy (Linda) Hazaert of Brookfield, WI and Shirley (Mike) Henderson of Green Bay, WI.
One brother and two sisters; Harold (Wilma) Waye of Clarksville, TN, Mary Quinn of Savannah, GA and Eunice (Steve) Evans of Savannah, GA. 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a great grandson due in October.
She was preceded in death by George, her husband of nearly 58 years, both of her parents as well as two brothers and three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Norman Waye of Savannah, GA, Jesse Waye of Savannah, GA, Dorothy (Archie) Jackson of Jacksonville, FL, Lila (Steve) Fritton of Jacksonville, FL and Gertrude (Marvin) Hudspeth of Maryville, TN.
Vera was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will miss her.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home at 340 S Monroe Ave, Green Bay on Tues, August 6th from 4 to 6 pm with a memorial service immediately following. Pastor Garry Pierce, a longtime family friend, will be officiating.
The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice and Dr. Amy James for their compassion and excellent care of their mom.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
