Troy Hassman, age 39, of Black Creek, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 1, 1978 in Antigo, WI to Gary and the late Judith (Poliak) Hassman.
Troy was a 1996 graduate of Elcho High School where he excelled in many athletics including football, basketball and baseball. Troy continued his education at UW-Stout where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Technology Education. He went on to earn his Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University.
Troy began his career in Technical Education at Pulaski High School. Later he was employed as an automation specialist for Werner Electric Supply in Appleton. He was passionate in learning new technologies and sharing his knowledge with others to help them in their homes and businesses.
Troy met his future wife, Jennifer Priebe, while attending UW-Stout. They were married, May 13, 2006 in Menomonee Falls, WI and together shared 12 years of marriage and were blessed with a daughter, Delilah Noelle.
Troy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing sports including golf, especially with his longtime friends: Jason, Jeff, Jeremiah and Berry. He also enjoyed cheering on the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed doing restoration work on his family's historical home. He shared many special times together with family and friends on Post Lake in Elcho and on The Chain of Lakes in Waupaca.
His wife remembers him as a loving and supportive husband who supported all of her personal endeavors. He was a man of strong faith and resilience, always keeping a positive outlook despite his hardships. Troy's greatest joy was being a father. His legacy and memory will live on through Delilah.
Troy will be dearly missed by his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Delilah; father, Gary Hassman; in-laws, Michael and Renee Priebe; brother-in-law, Douglas Priebe; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church (301 E. Burdick St., Black Creek), Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 9 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM with Fr. Theodore Hendricks, celebrant.
