Thomas "Tom" J. Gooding, age 70, of Green Bay, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 with his loving family at his side. He was born November 8, 1945 in Green Bay, son of the late Robert and Mary "Peggy" (Schmidt) Gooding.
Tom graduated from Green Bay East High School and enlisted in the United States Army. Tom served his country until his honorable discharge in 1972. He was employed as an optical technician for Wisconsin Optical Service for over 20 years. Tom was an avid sports fanatic who loved golfing, football, baseball, softball and bowling. He was eagerly awaiting the start of Packer season. He also loved animals, being outdoors and fishing.
He was a very friendly and humorous man. His wit and sense of humor will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Tom is survived by his son, Tom Gooding, Jr.; 3 brothers: Alan (Mary Ann) Gooding, James (Marianne) Gooding and John Gooding; sister, Judi Cropsey (Dan Wilhelm); sister-in- law, Gayle Gooding; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Gooding and brother-in-law, Earl Cropsey.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 1 to 3 PM. A celebration of Tom's life will follow at 3 PM with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the family are appreciated.
