Thomas Lloyd Sautebin

August 19, 1944 — September 20, 2023

Thomas ("Tom") Lloyd Sautebin, 79, of Green Bay, peacefully passed away on September 13, 2023 at his own home of natural causes. He was born on August 19, 1944 to Lloyd and Marie (Hansen) Sautebin in Fargo, North Dakota.

Tom graduated from Stout State University in 1967, teaching Shop for over 30 years, spending his last two decades at Green Bay East High School. He was a natural teacher and it was common for Tom to have friends and family over in his workshop, happily working on projects and excitedly showing them how to use tools and machines. Hardworking, Tom was always busy with "side hustles", doing home repairs and custom woodcrafting jobs on top of tinkering on personal projects. His biggest project was designing and personally building his own family home, alongside his wife and two students.

Woodworking was Tom's trade and profession, but also his love and passion. For years, his "outfit" always included a pencil behind his ear and a tape measure on his belt- even for a funeral. He was many people's "fix-it" guy and was proudly a "jack-of-all-trades"- rarely there was a project or problem that Tom couldn't solve.…and he was never short a funny story to go along with it. Even in his last days, he was very energized to help out a dear friend with a plumbing issue and see it to completion.

Tom was known for his quick sense of humor, ease in telling a story, and generous (and creative!) way of gift giving. Tom would create and mail out large wooden "boxes" to his children in different themes like a zamboni or a 4-foot wrench. Screwed together, inside he built special "compartments" for Susan B. Anthonys, treats and always a giant chocolate chip cookie.

Other loves: 12 mile beach in Pictured Rocks, Maricque's fish fry (in his later years he was known as "the Maricque's guy" as his wardrobe consisted only of the bar's t-shirts), organizing his tools, Bill Gaither gospel band, efficient driving routes, Diet Coke, Andi E's famous strawberry pie, all the foods a diabetic shouldn't eat, his litter-box trained house rabbits, a well-written obit and his "little buddy" grandpup, Toby the bulldog.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Tanya (Adam) Rudar; son Corey Sautebin; former wife Carol (TomR) Casey; brother Jim Sautebin; cousin Alan Magnuson and grandsons Noah, Roman and Pacey.
