Thomas Michael Shablak, better known as Tommy decided that he had enough of the cancer thing so on Friday morning, March 8, 2024, during a short stay at Aurora Hospital in Green Bay and with his loving family at his side, he packed up and moved to heaven.
Tommy was born on April 7, 1961 in San Diego, California son of the late Ronald and Patricia (La Paige) Shablak. His family moved to Green Bay during the early 1960s and it was there that Tommy lived the rest of his life.
Tommy was not interested in school. The only time he actually attended high school was when his father would physically march him in the front door of Preble High only to have Tommy escape through the back door as soon as his father left.
You could not rush Tommy or push him into anything - he did things at his pace and on his own terms. He loved to tell stories. And you could be sure 50% of every story was true. You just never knew which 50%.
Fast cars - oh boy Tommy had the cars. Among his favorites were his legendary 1968 Chevelle, a 1972 Nova and his 1974 Plymouth Duster. All these cars were smacked up at some point and according to Tommy, it was never his fault.
Tommy was a fighter and he was probably in more fights than Muhammad Ali. He was also a lover - he loved to party and he loved his family and his friends and would always stick up for them. On one occasion Tommy was attending a house party and when the police showed up because of the loud music and arrested a friend of his, Tommy decided to make an arrest himself, a citizens arrest on the police officer. That didn’t end well for him.
As you can see, Tommy was a character and a one of a kind. He was all this but he was also a son, a brother, a husband, a father and a grandfather. We will forever adore and remember you Tommy – we will stand taller and stronger, knowing you are now watching over us.
Tommy worked in the Green Bay area as Journeyman drywaller for more than 25 years. He was very proud of all the projects that he was a part of and loved to point them out. The last 16 years of his life, Tommy was employed by Pomp’s Tire as an Initial Inspector.
Tommy married the love of his life, Robin Williams on October 20, 2001 in Green Bay. They shared 23 years of love.
As an avid outdoorsman, Tommy lived to hunt and fish. He especially loved to go deer hunting with good buddy Rick B. Additionally, Tommy and Robin would often times escape to the north woods on weekends and vacations to go camping.
Tommy is survived by his wife Robin; sons Luke Laster (Samantha) Green Bay and Lee Laster (Rosa) Green Bay. Grandchildren; Jayda, Easton and Mason Laster all of Green Bay.
