Thomas P. "Tuffy" Hurley Jr., 71, of Suamico, passed away from complications of open heart surgery on July 11, 2016.
He was born July 14, 1944 to Thomas and Marie (Kamla) Hurley. Tom graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a Masters Degree. He spent most of his career teaching English/Language Arts at Washington Middle School. He was awarded Teacher of the Year in the State of Wisconsin in 1981. He retired from the Green Bay Public Schools in 1999. In his retirement, Tom enjoyed traveling with family and friends, scuba diving, and trying to win the "grand prize" by entering sweepstakes. He will mostly be remembered for his unrivaled sense of humor.
Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eileen (Thomas) Hurley, their children: Scott Hurley and Laura DeMeuse, his grandchildren, Madison and Ethan DeMeuse, his siblings and their spouses: Susan (Hurley) and Bill Gevers and Dan and Sue Hurley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters in law, as well as special friends David and Karen Johnsen and Marti Kojis.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Tom's life on Thursday, July 14th from 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM at Olde 41 of Duck Blind Vandervest Harley-Davidson, 1966 Velp Avenue, Green Bay. Interment will be private. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be directed to the Green Bay Humane Society.
