Thomas "Tom" De Lair, 78, of Green Bay, passed away on March 5, 2020 from a long battle with cancer.
Tom was born and raised in De Pere. He attended Abbott Pennings High School. Went into the work force and was drafted into the Army and was honorably discharged in November 1969. He enjoyed working for Reimer Meats as a truck driver for many years until the company closed. Later he worked as a Custodian for Green Bay Public Schools until his retirement. On October 10, 1970 he married Joanne Carlson. Together they enjoyed going on vacation to St. Germaine, WI, and taking road trips. In 1972 they welcomed their only daughter Charlene Valdez. Charlene was involved in Color Guard from 3rd grade until the age of 21. Tom was a frequent bus driver for Color Guard trips, and a huge supporter.
He is survived by his daughter, Charlene, his two grandsons, Daniel and Andrew Valdez all of Brockton, MA. A sister Susan (Roger) Mommaerts or Eagle River, a brother Michael (Gayle) De Lair of Green Bay and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Florence De Lair and his lovely wife Joanne.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14th from 3 PM - 5 PM at Newcomer - Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A funeral service celebrating Tom's life will follow at 5 PM in the funeral home. Burial will in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers you can make donation to the family to help with his services and any outstanding expenses, envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the Doctors at the VA in Green Bay, Crossroads Nursing Home, and Southern Care Hospice for their love and care for Tom.
