Thomas W. Conard

April 4, 1931 — January 3, 2021

Thomas "Tom" Conard, 89, of Green Bay, beloved husband of Roberta "Bobbie" (Stauff) Conard for 67 years, passed away peacefully, early Sunday morning, January 3, 2021.

Tom was born on April 4, 1931 in Green Bay, son of the late Clifford and Estelle (Vanden Wymelenberg) Conard. Tom grew up in Green Bay where he met and fell in love with Bobbie Stauff. They married at St. Matthew's Parish in Allouez on April 6, 1953. After graduating from St. Norbert College with a Bachelor's Degree in Business, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a 1st Lieutenant. Upon returning from the Army, Tom joined the family business and became one of the owners and operators of Conard's Men's Wear in Green Bay until 1984. He then bought two Service Master franchises, in Chilton and in Manitowoc, running them for over six years. Tom then owned and operated the Vacuum Cleaner Service Center on E. Mason Street in Green Bay before retiring.

Tom was an active member in his community early in his life as an Eagle Scout and Scout leader and later as a member of the Optimist Club, Northeast Businessmen's Club, Elk's Club, Green Bay Outboard Club, American Legion, and, always, as a member of his parish. Tom loved the outdoors and gave his family many great memories of "going up north", boating, snowmobiling, water skiing, swimming, and fishing. Tom will be remembered for his Belgian sense of humor, the twinkle in his eye, and the love in his heart. He was a man of faith and it showed in how he lived his life as a devoted and affectionate husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his wife Bobbie, and their 5 children: Terri (Peter) Mauel, Celeste (Hugh) Holly, Maribeth (Greg Polacheck) Conard, Joe (Lucy) Conard, and Sue (Dave) DeGroot, along with his siblings: Fr. James Conard MM, Paul (Joan) Conard, and John (Sharon) Conard. Tom leaves 13 beloved grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and extended family and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his son David, and a sister, Audrey (Roger) Iversen.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8th from 10 AM - 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM in the Sanctuary followed by full military honors. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Guests will be required to wear a mask and respect social distancing guidelines. Newcomer - Green Bay Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

Tom suffered for many years from Parkinson's disease. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation:
