Thomas A. Waldorf

June 5, 1936 — August 2, 2013

Thomas A. Waldorf, Denmark, slipped away from life on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013. Tom was born June 5, 1936, in Green Bay to Henry and Gladys (Cowden) Waldorf.

Tom was a loving father to six daughters; Wendy (Steven) Crosby, Toni (Rick Pacitto) Waldorf, Crystal Waldorf, Laura Lee Waldorf, Julia Waldorf, and Sharon Waldorf. He was a devoted and caring stepfather to Lisa (Tom) Wachowski and Leslie LeMense as well as their children. His devotion for children resulted in a life-long father figure for Jill (Simon) Schroepfer and recently included her husband, Brian.

Tom is survived by four sisters; Joyce Waldorf, Patricia (Darrel) Whiting, Ruth Quigley, and Jean Waldorf. He was a loving grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gladys; infant son, Thomas Arthur Waldorf, Jr.; brother, Jacob Waldorf; and two sisters, Mildred Peer and Joanne Waldorf.

Tom attended Green Bay East High School and joined the City of Green Bay Police Department on May 2, 1961. He was so-o-o proud to wear that uniform (and was probably the handsomest and most caring officer anyone could ever meet). People trusted him. His fellow officers respected him and enjoyed watching him in action, even if at times he found it necessary to "bend the rules". Tom was always a fun loving person who was always up for a challenge. Tom retired from the Police Department on December 31, 1989, after devoting 28 years to a beloved profession which left him with many life-long friends. He then began his own business as a locksmith under "Auto Lock-Out". Tom again displayed his compassion for people by going to their aid, and often doing lock-out services free of charge. He gained a reputation as the lock-out man who cared.

Throughout his life Tom was recognized for his creativity and cunningness. When presented with some pretty dismal situations he was able to come up with amazing ideas and the final results were incredible. During his illness he found the strength to dig and install five yard lamps on his country property. He also designed and built an incredible yard swing which could only be the result of Tom's ingenious talents.

Tom's favorite pastimes involved softball, golfing, and traveling to Washington Island with his family.

Tom met his beloved Judy LeMense, in 1977, and together they shared their love through good and bad for 36 years. Brokenheartedly, she will miss him with an undying love.
