Terry "Lee" Braatz, age 76, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, May 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 22, 1947 in Green Bay, son of the late Thomas "Tom" and Evelyn (Hintz) Braatz.
Lee attended Green Bay West High School. He began his career at Harry Wery's Greenhouse and later went to Hurlbut Pre-Stress Concrete. Lee spent the last 30 years of his career working as a painter for Green Bay Western and retired from Canadian National as a car man.
He married Carol Brunner, on Friday, July 13, 1979, which was also Carol’s father’s birthday! Throughout their 50 years together, they enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Tipler, WI, fishing, hiking and spending time with friends and family. They traveled, especially after retiring and made many lifelong friends. One of their favorite destinations was Ocho Rios, Jamaica where many locals became extended family.
The outdoors was Lee's greatest passion, especially fishing and hunting. He could often be found putzing in the garden or tinkering in his garage. His grandchildren said, "If Papa couldn't fix it, you may as well throw it out!" Lee was also known for his “Papa sandwiches”.
Terry Lee is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Lee F. Braatz; 2 grandchildren, Kimmi Cooney and Shaed Cooney; 3 siblings, Tom (Sharon) Braatz, Roseanne (Rick) Scot and Wendy (Dennis) Kolbusz; and in-laws, Bonnie (Roger) Piontek, Rick (Rosemary) Brunner, and Keith (Tina) Brunner.
