Teresa M. Stein - Matheny

June 9, 1963 — October 2, 2018

TERESA MARGARET STEIN MATHENY passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 following a 12- year battle with breast cancer. She was born on June 9, 1963 to Arthur and Elizabeth Stein in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She is the oldest of four girls. Teri graduated from Sheboygan South in 1981 and from Carroll University in 1985. She graduated with an accounting degree and retired from the Village of Little Chute as Finance Director in August 2018.

On May 30, 1992, Teri married the love of her life, Robert Matheny Jr. He has been her partner for the last twelve years in their battle. He has sat in hospital rooms, doctor offices and been a CNA at home. To say just "Thank you" could never express the commitment he has made to her in the last 12 years.

In her own words Teri expressed: In my life I am most proud of my children, they have been unwilling partners in having to be part of their Mother's disease. They are CNA's, responsible and empathetic people and I love them more than they could ever know.

Teresa is survived by her husband of 26 years, Robert, her four children, Emily, Megan, Caitlyn, and Tanner. She is, also survived by her dad, Art (Sheboygan), her three sisters, Laurie Herbert (Sheboygan), Jane (Jon) Dyer (Florida) and Jill Gadetke (Sheboygan). Teresa is also survived by her three sister-in-laws, Mary (Jim) Dreweck (New Franken), Peggy (Wayne) Leibitzke (California) and Anne (Dale) Walker (Fox Crossing). She is also survived by numerous Aunts and Uncles and cousins as well as nieces and nephews.

Teresa is preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Rose, her mother, Elizabeth Stein and her in-laws, Robert Sr. and Gloria Matheny.

Teresa was a stay-at-home mom for a number of years. It allowed her to be a Girl Scout leader, Catechist, and to have all her children memorize their library card numbers. As a family, Teresa enjoyed camping, vacations, and musical/theater performances from her children.

Friends and family may call at St. Edward and St Isidore in Flintville on Friday, October 5th from 4-7 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 6th from 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM at the church. Three huge thank-yous:

1. To my family who has been just as courageous as I in this fight. There are no words that could express my gratitude for everything.
2. To my extended family who prayed the rosary daily for me during my illness - Thank you. I believe in the comfort that brings.
3. To the staff, nurses and doctors at Green Bay Oncology especially Dr. J. Mitch Winkler, Nurse Practitioners, Marcy Godlewski and Eric Dellamater. Always Humor and Honesty - no other way to win battles and the war. Thank you for everything.
