Tammy Lynn Johnston

June 18, 1972 — March 19, 2021

Our Sunshine has completed her journey- from sunrise to sunset. Tammy passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021 at home with her family by her side. Tammy was only 48.

Born June 18, 1972 in Green Bay, Tammy was the youngest daughter of Allan "Hap" and Bonnie (De Groot) Johnston, with older siblings Dan "DJ" and Lori. You will never meet a more loving, tight-knit family than the "Johnston's of Curran".

Tammy graduated with the Class of 1991 at Denmark High School and went on to obtain her Associate degree in Accounting from NWTC. Tammy entered the workforce at age 14 and never looked back. She was very well known as a hard worker and often held four jobs at once. Tammy did not "enjoy" working but rather to fund her hobbies. She was a world-traveler with her favorite places being Hawaii, the East Coast (New York), Mexico, and Europe (especially London and Paris).

Tammy was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in December 2019. She retired from Aurora Bay Care Medical Center, the YMCA, the Kress Inn, and Lakeland Door in Fall 2020 after it became too much to work and take care of her health.

A proud "keeper" of many treasures, and diligent recycler, Tammy was also someone people gravitated towards and then never left her circle. People, animals, things, relationships- they were all her "treasures". She was part of a tight group of girlfriends, who call themselves "The Golden Girls" and she also had hundreds of other friends and family members who were special to her. She was most proud in being a helping hand in the raising of her three nephews, Travis, Trevor, and Brandon. All three are currently in college, and Tammy liked to say they got their smarts from her!

Tammy is survived by her "children" (pets) Mya, Casper, and Wendy, her parents Hap and Bonnie, brother DJ (Jen), sister Lori (Brian) Wavrunek, nephews Travis, Trevor, and Brandon, and Jen's wonderful daughter Brianna. Numerous aunts and uncles on both sides, and way too many cousins to mention. She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Visitation for Tammy will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Newcomer- Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI 54301) from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Prayer Service will be held at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to any animal shelter or Friends of Haiti. Tammy was passionate about both organizations/causes.

Tammy would like to thank all her friends and family for rallying around her during this most unexpected journey. For those who attended her "Sunshine Strong" benefit in December 2020 or stopped by to visit while she was on hospice. Her neighbors for taking care of her home and yard. She will treasure you all forever.

Special thank you from the Johnston family to Kim Stencil for all of your love and support and friendship over the many years.

Special thank you to her sister Lori for being her caregiver and constant companion, and to her friend Lisa and cousins, Missy and Brenda for helping all of us (especially Tammy). The sunset proves that endings can be beautiful too.
