Sylvia J. Murphy, 85, of De Pere, passed away on February 26, 2024.
She was born on August 23, 1938 to Dr. Charles and Genevieve (Kuess) Picard in Bemidji, MN. She was a Choir Director for the Lena School District for 40 plus years, but she helped assist in any area where she was needed. She helped sort through the different decades of Lena School District yearbooks in her retirement years. She enjoyed assisting with the District's fundraising events. There are not enough words to describe the amount of dedication and love she had for the school district and her students.
She passionately loved fishing. She also loved growing flowers and gardening. She recently discovered knitting and would donate knitted hats to the local shelters. She enjoyed nature - including feeding birds, eagle watching and deer spotting. She also spent her time watching the Packer's games and went to a few Green Bay Gambler's games. She also loved going to the Kids From WI and Doctors in Recital plays.
Sylvia is survived by her boyfriend, Larry Borley; loving daughter, Jessica (William) Murphy-Smith; granddaughter, Jacquelyn Picard; grandson, Jared Smith; great-granddaughter, Taelynn Veker; brothers: Dr. Charles W (Carol) Picard and Albert "Greg" (Lisa) Picard; sister-in-law, Cora Picard; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Ellen Picard; brother, John Vincent Picard; and niece, Shelly Picard.
