Sue (Ruf) Witbro, 86, Suamico, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Aurora Baycare Hospital in Green Bay and is now with our Lord and Savior.
Sue was born on October 18,1937 in Green Bay, the daughter of Winfred Ruf and Genevieve (Huempfner) Ruf. She met the love of her life, Bruce Witbro, while attending West High School, and graduated in 1955. Sue later married her High School sweetheart on December 29, 1956.
Sue and Bruce were married for almost 52 years before Bruce passed away from health complications caused by Desert Storm on November 23, 2008. Theirs was a life full of love and humor that helped them through so many of life’s hurdles. Now after almost 16 years of separation, Bruce and Sue are reunited once again.
Sue was an Eye Contact Technician for 17 years and enjoyed working with people. She was also the Support Leader for Bruce’s unit while he served in Desert Storm. Sue was very proud of her husband’s military career of nearly 36 years.
Sue enjoyed many things throughout her life, including being active in her children’s school activities, working on crafts and participating in shows, taking care of her raised garden beds, camping and traveling. Sue and Bruce also taught square and round dancing. Sue had so much love and compassion for animals. She enjoyed caring for her dogs, cats, raising birds and the fish in her koi pond. She also loved watching and feeding the wildlife.
Sue had a smile that would just light up a room and her humor and laughter were infectious. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who was always there when you needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, love, and laughs. She was a woman of faith, courage, intellect, and determination to live life to the fullest. She was a friend to many and leaving behind a legacy of humor, kindness, strength, and love.
The most important things in Sue’s life were her faith, spending time with her family and friends and a good sense of humor. Sue loved spending time studying her Bible and listening to Christian music. For the last few years, Sue suffered from several medical conditions, but she never lost her faith or humor. About two weeks before she passed away, Sue said she was looking forward to being with Jesus and being back in Bruce’s arms, dancing again.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Melinda Witbro, Suamico; her two sons, Scott (Irene) Witbro, Waukesha, and Brad (Michelle) Witbro, Green Bay; 2 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank her friends and family for all the prayers, love and support. They also want to thank Aurora at Home, Aurora Hospice and Aurora Baycare Medical Center, for their wonderful care for Sue over these last 5 months.
Sue’s final wish was that there be no service or funeral for her. She wanted to be remembered as she was in life - full of joy, humor, and love. Her request is being honored by her family and friends.
