Susan Hale (McMasters) Jerovitz passed away peacefully at home with family by her side after a 4 year battle with Bone Marrow Cancer (MDS), entering the Kingdom of Heaven on August 7, 2021. Sue was born October 14, 1942 in Green Bay WI to the late Donald and Eleanor (Stencil) McMasters. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, only sibling, Betty Buhl and brother in law Orvie Buhl, her stepmother Marion, mother and father in law Orville and Ethel (Roubal) Jerovitz and brother in law John Hammen.
Family tree research revealed Nathan Hale was a relative on her dad's side which was the basis for her middle name. Sue attended Roosevelt Elementary, Washington Jr. High and graduated from East High School where her dad was also the principal and she played in the marching band. She continued her education at UWGB and Bellin Hospital School of Radiology where she became an X-Ray Technician. She married David Jerovitz on December 14, 1963.
After graduation from X-Ray school she worked at the Green Bay Clinic and St. Mary's Hospital. After her children were born she filled in for vacations at the hospital and several area clinics in the Green Bay area. In 1971 her husband's job transferred them to Pennsylvania. Sue worked for a local church during their time in Pennsylvania. After 4 years, they moved back to Green Bay. She was very happy to be back close to family and friends. After they got settled back in the area, Sue worked for heart surgeon, Dr. Carlson for several years. After leaving Dr Carlson's practice, she started working in a chiropractic office. Sue worked for several different chiropractors in the Green Bay area until her grandchildren were born. After that she worked only part-time and devoted most of her time to babysitting and taking care of her grandchildren, who were so important to her. In her last job before retirement Sue worked for Dr. Ken Sturgis for many years where she helped with patient therapy.
Sue loved to sew and enjoyed making outfits for her children and grandchildren and made many holiday dresses and vests and that they wore proudly when they were younger. Sue was involved in the Mad Hatters club and enjoyed making the elaborate hats they wore. Sue was very creative and loved making crafts or sewing anything anybody needed. She even made her daughter's wedding dress and all the bridesmaid dresses and miniature brides dress for her daughter's wedding. She loved doing things for others. Sue's faith and God were very important to her and she was involved in various ways with their church over the years, and attended many Mother-Daughter banquets with her mother in law and her daughter. Later in life she even sang in the church choir.
Sue and Dave enjoyed spending time at their family cottage in Door County. They enjoyed a lot of time with family and friends and loved being on the water. They spent many years with their children boating, skiing, fishing and many other adventures on their boat. Sue and Dave also loved golfing together, and with their children and eventually their grandchild Andy. Sue even was blessed to have gotten a hole-in-one and was the women's club champion one year. When grandchildren arrived Sue loved taking care of them whenever needed. Sue and Dave loved taking their grandchildren on many adventures to different places over the years and loved having them for sleepovers. They made sure to attend almost every school event, sporting event, concert, awards events, etc. that involved their grandchildren. Sue and Dave also loved spending time with their grandchildren at their cottage and had many Door County excursions every summer. Playing cards and games was a favorite pastime and many laughs and conversations have been had over a good game of cards with family and friends over the years. Sue also made many lifelong friendships with her co-workers and loved to get together with them for lunches or just a girls date to catch up. Sue was a joy to be around and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her memory will be cherished by many and her earthly presence will be dearly missed. Sue was very thankful to daughter Julie for being such a special caregiver to her over the last few years of her illness.
