Susan A. Thurston, 75, Waupaca, passed away unexpectedly October 23, 2012, at the. She was born August 12, 1937 in Eau Claire, WI, to the late Gordon and Lila (Gullickson) Eggleston. She graduated from Eau Claire High School. On June 23, 1957, she married Frederick "Fuzzy" Thurston.
Susan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted homemaker. When the kids were growing up she and Fuzzy enjoyed time at their cottage on Upper Clear Lake with their family and friends. During the last 16 years they have enjoyed living on the Chain Of Lakes in Waupaca. She also lived in Texas, Madison, Green Bay and raised their kids in Neenah. Susan enjoyed many years of traveling to Florida for vacations and for the winter months. She never missed the opportunity to go to any of her kids activities. She was a huge sports fan and liked reading, crossword puzzles, music, needlework, decorating and spoiling her cat, "Bailey".
Susan is survived by her husband of 55 years, Fuzzy; sons, Mark (Carol) of Green Bay, Griff (Robin) Thurston of Florida, and daughter Tori (Jerry) Burton of De Pere; 3 grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Olivia and Fred Thurston and Joey Kluck; sister, Karen (Jerry) Luedtke, Fond du Lac; and other relatives and friends.
Family and friends may call Friday, November 9, 2012, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. The funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00pm.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to The Appleton Medical Center for their kindness, compassion, and care given to Susan. The family also thanks Dave Para for his friendship and support throughout the years.
