The end of an incredible era has come. H. Stewart Morris left for his next adventure on May 20, 2022, he knew that all of his loved ones were with him in spirit and wishing him Bon Voyage. His first adventure began when his farmer parents, Harold B. and Mary Morris celebrated his birth on November 16, 1925. This Illinois boy, the third of five children, seemed destined to be a farmer, following in the footsteps of his ancestors. Then he joined the U.S. Navy in the mid 1940's. After that, he went to Blackburn College, University of Illinois, and University of Pennsylvania. He began his career as a physical therapist at the age of 28 working in a polio center in Texas and ending his career 45 years later in Sun City, Arizona.
A highlight of his life was in 1957 with two life-changing decisions. The first was to persuade a Canadian nurse named Liz to be his Life-Mate; she will miss him dearly. The second was accepting an offer to start the Physical Therapy Department at the new St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He has five wonderful kids. Jane (Geb Thomas) Dorman in Iowa City, Dan (Danielle) Morris, in Green Bay, Peggy LaSalle in Milwaukee, Nancy White in Green Bay, and Sarah (Brian) Robillard in Vicenza, Italy. Grandchildren Katrina (Grant) Mason, Patrick and Ryan Dorman; Alex, Franki, Mia, and Lizzy Morris; Lisa (Sam) Caraballo, Marcia and Tom LaSalle; and Corey and Allyson White. He also leaves three great-grandchildren, Jack, Luke, and Emma.
Other than his younger brother, Ed, Stew was preceded in death by all of his siblings as well as a great number of those who were significant to his full and wonderful life. He adored people and wanted to make them feel good. He was interested in many things such as nature, music, traveling, reading, and writing. He spent many hours following sports, especially his beloved White Sox.
He tried to live by the Robert Louis Stevenson quote, "That man is a success, who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much ...who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had."
Services for Stew will be private and held at a later date.
