Stephen G. Gay

August 6, 1964 — September 29, 2018

Dear Stephen Gerard Gay,

This is your wife, Jessica (Gering) Gay. I'm writing you because my grief will not allow me to write an ordinary obituary for you. You were not an ordinary man. You fought so hard for so long, but passed peacefully Saturday, September 29, 201, at 54 years of age after an unbelievably courageous 3-year battle with Leukemia.

You were born August 6, 1964, in Green Bay, to the most loving parents, Ronald and Barbara Gay (Beyer). Throughout your childhood, graduation from Green Bay East High School in 1982, and college in Madison, you developed so many lifelong friendships. Over the years I've met these friends and witnessed the bond you shared. But from all the numerous stories, and I mean numerous stories, of your crazy antics and good times, I found you to be the driving force behind them all. You were the one to make sure everyone had a good time and stayed close. That's how you lived. You always were thinking of others.

You somehow found time to volunteer because you once told me you, "felt blessed in life and wanted to give back." You volunteered for many years, delivering meals for Meals on Wheels and coordinated the delivery of meals on Thanksgiving at Lambeau Field. Your spirit to give unconditionally will be missed by so many.

You worked at UPS for 35 years. Your co-workers have expressed how special you were. Everyone I've ever met shared stories of how much you were loved and admired for the knowledge of your job, and your willingness to assist them in any way you could.

Anyone who knows you will never forget your most infamous legacy, your 1996 Green Bay Packer RV you named the Big "G". For 25 years you drove, pushed, pulled, and willed the Big "G" to every Packer home game, never missing a game in that 25-year span beginning in 1992. You road tripped the Big "G" to three Packer Super Bowls including New Orleans, San Diego, and Dallas, and to nine other stadiums on each coast of the U.S. Your giving spirit made sure everyone, including opposing fans, had a brat and a good time. You've touched so many lives and created so many life long memories for everyone that's ever met you at the Big "G". Packer games will never be the same for anyone who had the privilege of tailgating with you.

You lived the life you were meant to live. You may be gone, but will never be forgotten. You were a special soul who will always live in our hearts. You will be missed so dearly.

We love you Stephen Gerard gay. We love you.
