Stephen Charles Bergman

February 8, 1958 — May 10, 2024

Stephen Charles Bergman passed into his final adventure into eternal glory during the week of May 4, 2024. Steve was born February 8, 1958 in Green Bay, WI, son to James and Nancy (Kosnar) Bergman. Steve married Laura Soules and while they were together they had two children that were Steve's greatest joy.

Family was by far the most important thing in life to Steve. There was really nothing that Steve would not do for his family. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back whenever there was a need, never asking for anything in return. He was very good at showing up with a little something that he made just for you or knew you enjoyed, but his greatest gifts were the memories you made with him. With all of our family here in the Green Bay Area, we were blessed enough to celebrate all special events and holidays together. Steve's favorite part of each get-together was getting the kids all riled up, which he seemingly excelled at.

Steve's second enjoyment in life was the outdoors; camping, hunting, cutting down trees, campfires, and many walks in the woods. The memories and love for camping that Steve had while camping with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins has passed onto the next generation. We all have plenty of stories to share of the creative adventures and crazy family fun of camping together mostly at Sandstone Campground in Crivitz.

Steve was also very creative and inventive. If there was something you wanted or needed fixed, he jumped at the opportunity to find a solution. He always told his kids "I can fix anything once!" After which you could usually find him in the shop where he spent many hours tinkering and creating.

Steve was a long time member of the DePere Sportsman club where he could be found helping others to sight in their guns. He volunteered many hours at Paul's Pantry in Green Bay. In the earlier years Steve volunteered at Living Hope Church as a leader in the children's Sonlight program.

Steve was employed for many years as a millworker at Nicolet Paper Co of DePere, WI. Some of you might remember his most enjoyable job where he was known as "Chawbacca" the DJ at the "Red Rooster" Red Carpet Lanes in Ashwaubenon. In 2002, he was employed by the Raddison Hotel and Casino, where he began his career as a Security Officer. Steve was most recently employed by Allied Universal as a Security Officer.

Steve had a 6 year battle with cancer that did go into remission for 1 of those years. Recently, the cancer emerged a final time and he found his rest. Steve was one tough guy that never gave up, he continued working as a security officer to the very end. His lifetime of perseverance and positive outlook will continue to serve as an inspiration to many.

Steve is survived by and will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his children; Drew (Shannon) Bergman, Paige (Keaton) Bayuga. His grandchildren; Dahlia Bergman, Elliston Bergman, father James Bergman, siblings; Kathy (Dave) Payette, Robert Bergman, David (Susan) Bergman, Ken (Robin) Bergman, nieces and nephews; Justin (Morgan) Payette, Robb Bergman, Doug (Emma-Jean) Bergman, Patrick (Tara) Duchateu, Brian (Ann) Duchateau, Alexis Bergman, and Allison Bergman, many cousins, and Harry (Gail) Gomber who was a true life long friend to Steve.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy (Kosnar) Bergman. And infant brother Joseph Bergman.

Funeral Service will be held at Living Hope Church, 1840 W Mason St. Green Bay, WI, on Saturday June 1, 2024, Visitation from 9:30 to 11:30, Funeral Service to follow at 11:30.
