Stephanie Gay Abts, 55, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
Stephanie was born in Green Bay on July 17, 1961, the daughter of Wayne Astin and the late Mary (Sunby) Astin. Stephanie met and married her high school sweetheart Clayton Abts in 1983. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Stephanie was an Elementary Teacher for the Green Bay Public School System until her retirement in 2013. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and loved listening to Bruce Springsteen. Stephanie will be remembered most as the loving Wife, Mother, Daughter, Grandmother, Sister and Friend she was.
Stephanie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Clayton, son, Taylor, daughter, Tierney (fiancé Brandon Sweeney), and the apple of her eye her granddaughter, Brooklyn, father, Wayne Astin, and Grandma Shirley Abts. Stephanie also leaves her beloved siblings, sister, Lee (Tom) Fazendin and brother, Jed (Katie) Astin, brother and sister in-law, Lance(Dina) Abts, Keith (Karel) Abts, and Laura (Frank) Paulette whom she also loved as siblings. She also leaves, nephews and nieces Brett, Jake, Jon, Kyle, Lindsey, Carissa, Elizabeth, Lauren, and a great niece, Gwen; who adored her as did she them. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marni Astin-Jeanquart, and her mother and father in-law, Clayton and Linda Abts along with other relatives and friends.
Stephanie will be remembered as a loving and caring individual. She was a generous, kind person that would always make you feel special. She will be missed! Stephanie had a heart of gold and was a kind and giving person, which even continued with her gift of organ donation.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26th from 2-4 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A service celebrating Stephanie's life will follow at 4 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff of St. Vincent Hospital for their compassionate care and support during this time.
