Sister Mary Audri Tlachac died peacefully on December 27, 2012, at Woodside Lutheran Home. She was born March 7, 1926, in Rosiere, WI to Matthew and Mary (Seiler) Tlachac. She attended Brussels Grade School, West High School in Green Bay, and graduated from McDonell Catholic High School, Chippewa Falls. She received a BS in Elementary Education from St. Norbert College, an MA in English from Northern Michigan University, and a Certificate for Teaching the Emotionally Disturbed from UW Oshkosh. Sister Mary Audri entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross in 1950, was professed in 1953 and made final profession in 1959. She celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 2011.
Sister Mary Audri spent many years of dedicated service as a teacher (1952-1985) in elementary schools of the Green Bay Diocese and at the high school, Our Lady of Charity, Green Bay. Her elementary teaching was in Howard, Darboy, Madison, Green Bay, New Franken, and De Pere. She served as a Frontier Apostle for one year in British Columbia, Canada. Sister Mary Audri retired to Community ministry at the Motherhouse in 1985.
She is survived by her brother Norbert (Mary) Tlachac, nieces and nephews, and the members of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, and Associate members of the Community.
Sister Mary Audri was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Norman and sisters-in-law Genevieve and Rosemary Tlachac.
Friends may call at St. Francis Convent, 3110 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay, on Sunday, December 30, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. for the reception of the body and visitation. The recitation of the rosary will take place at 5:00 p.m. Visitation for Sr. Mary Audri will continue on Monday, December 31, 2012, at St. Francis Convent from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in the convent chapel. Burial will be at the St. Francis Convent Cemetery.
