Sherry Kamps, 80, of Howard, WI, passed away at home with her husband and family by her side on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.
Sherry graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1954. She then married James Kamps, Sr. on May 11, 1957 and enjoyed nearly 61 years together. Sherry was a wonderful wife, fabulous mother and lovely grandmother. She was a natural caregiver and loved taking care of others. She managed the health care of her in-laws, Henry and Josephine Kamps, as well as her step-mother, Mary Plouff. During the process of caring for them, Sherry, along with her husband, James, volunteered at Manor Care Nursing Home. Sherry always said if she could do life over, she would be a nurse. But even without a degree, she learned a lot and did whatever she could to help care for others. Sherry had a heart of gold. She was very meticulous about the inside of her home, as well as the outside. It was not unusual to see her sweeping the curb at the end of the day. Everything had to look perfect. Both her home and her yard were beautiful all the time. Just like she was.
Sherry had two children, Katheryn (Mitchell) Bratz and James (Linda) Kamps Jr. There are 5 grandchildren: Justin (Misty), Kindra, Kareena (David), Patrick and Haley. 3 great-grandchildren: Bryce, Brennan, and Lucas, along with two great-great grandchildren: Ethan and Emma. Sherry also had 3 step-grandchildren that she truly loved: Justin (Jennifer), Rachel (Ryan), and Adam (Tiffany) and step-great-grandchildren: Sophie, Alaina, Sadie, and Lucas. Sherry also has a sister, Carol (Ron) Francois, brother-and sister-in-laws: Donald (Betty) Kamps, Robert Kamps, Beatrice (Rick Calawerts), Linda (John) Plouff, Sharon Kamps, David (Becky) Kamps, and Sharon Tomchek.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Rueben & Cecelia Plouff, her sister, Jacquelyn, step-mother Mary Plouff, in-laws Henry & Josephine Kamps, brother-in-law Henry Jr, Rodger, sister-in-laws Elaine (Louie), Joyce, and Ginny. Along with other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16th from 3 PM - 6 PM at Newcomer Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A memorial service will follow at 6 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
