Sherman T. Baker

"JR" Sherman T. Baker, Jr, 55, Allouez, left us too soon on Monday July 9, 2018, with his loving family by his side. He was born May 18, 1963 in West Allis, WI to Sherman, Sr. and the late Mary Kathleen (Hassett) Baker. JR spent his earlier years growing up in New Berlin, WI and weekends in the North woods. When he was a teen, his family permanently moved to Silver Cliff, WI. He attended Wausaukee High School and Milwaukee Area Technical College before joining the U.S. Army and then serving with the Wisconsin National Guard.

While visiting family and friends one weekend he unexpectedly met his true love, Christine (Frink) and they began one crazy journey together of life filled with great joys and lots of fun.

JR enjoyed being up north whenever possible; pontoon boating and swimming on High Falls Flowage in the summer and ice fishing on Caldron Falls Flowage in the winter. He had a huge personality that enabled him to easily talk to people. He never would forget a name or a face and was always willing to help out someone in need. To know him was the love him and he will be missed by so many.

JR and Chrissy were married on March 12, 1993 and celebrated their 25th anniversary earlier this year. In 1997 they settled in Allouez and raised two beautiful daughters of whom he was so proud. He worked for Red-D Mix concrete for 23 years prior to his illness.
In addition to his beloved, he is survived by his daughters Megan (Zak Parker) who is working on her Master's Degree at Viterbo University, La Crosse, WI and Marley who recently graduated from De Pere High School and has just begun her own journey, and his four legged companion "Bob" who never left his side.

He is further survived by his father, Sherman Sr, Green Bay; sisters, Sherleen Pennycuff, Silver Lake, WI; Terry (Vanee) Baker, Onalaska, WI; 2 nieces and their children, Sara Baker and Chloe, and Amy Baker and Gian, all of Black River Falls, WI. He is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law Jim and Norma Frink, Allouez; and brother-in-law Mitch Frink, Allouez.

He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, mother Kathleen, and brother, Timothy "Skip" Baker.

A celebration of life will be held at Newcomer - Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Ave., from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 14, 2018.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful friends, neighbors and co-workers who have been so kind to us the past two years, especially Wyatt Evraets, who was like a son to him. They would like to also thank Unity Hospice for their compassion and all the staff at Green Bay Oncology and Radiation Oncology. Your kind hearts and dedication will not be forgotten. Drs. Bodvarsson and Guiou keep fighting the fight.
