It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Ann LaFond (Konop) announces her passing after a 12 year journey with cancer at the age of 73 years, on Saturday, September 1, 2018. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Sharon's last gift to others was the organ donation of her corneas to two transplant recipients. Sharon will be remembered for her kind heart and compassion for others, even during great times of pain and suffering. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband of 51 years, Darrell, and his children Michelle
and Mark (Lisa) LaFond. Also proud grandmother to Stephen (LaFond), Rachel, Olivia and Seth (Kuhn), and Harper and Ashlin LaFond. Special friend to Tom, Jonathan and Kirsten.
Sharon was born on May 30, 1945 in Lena, Wisconsin. She is survived by brothers Wilbur, Leonard (Mary Ann), Roger and Larry (Luella) Konop, and sister Judy. She is also survived by brother-in-law Roger Balthazor and sister-in-law Viette Hornick, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by parents Joseph and Angeline Konop, as well as sisters Jeanette Neveu, Marian Rost, Rose Marie Krejcarek, Mildred Grooms and brother Ronald Konop.
A Memorial Mass and celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 7th at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, located at 1307 Lourdes Avenue, DePere, Wi. Visitation will be held from 9am to 10:30am with the Memorial Mass to follow at 10:30am.
Following a luncheon, internment will follow at Allouez Catholic Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum for immediate family.
Memorial donations in memory of Sharon may be made out to Darrell LaFond for a donation to her favorite charities. Darrell would especially like to thank Dr. Patel and his staff at Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, as well as the doctors and nurses at Aurora BayCare Hospital, notably the staff at Aurora at Home Hospice for their kind and loving care.
