Scott Charles Smith, 64 passed away on March 7, 2022. He was born in Neenah, Wisconsin, on July 7, 1957, son of the late James W. Smith and Janis M. (Kessler) Smith. Scott lived most of his life in the Fox Valley cities of Neenah and Oshkosh, but also lived in the Milwaukee area and, most recently, in Green Bay.
Scott graduated from Neenah High School in 1976, University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science, Industrial Safety, with additional courses at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1989 in Elementary Education. The later allowed him to pursue a career in education and working with young children. He was an awarded the Teacher of the Year for early childhood learning.
Scott was an avid Packer fan and tried not to miss a game. He was also fond of sitting on the shore of Lake Winnebago, enjoying the scenery and the breeze. Scott treasured the time he spent with his family and friends, including his daughter, Abigail. He was also amazed and delighted to have found a new family with his new wife, Julie.
Easy to smile and laugh and possessing a powerful positive outlook, Scott waged a brave and hard fought battle for seven months against COVID and its aftermath. With the support of his wife, Julie, and her daughter, Linda; his sister, Judi; his best friend, Tom Christensen; and the amazing medical staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Scott did all that was humanly possible to win the war he was in. In the end, battle-weary and broken, he decided his body was done. He decided to leave it behind and free his spirit to move on.
Scott is survived by his wife, Julie; Julie's daughter, Linda (John) Lavarda; his sister, Judi (John) Curtis; his daughter, Abigail Smith; two grandchildren, mother-in-law, Patricia King, six brothers- and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, twin, Jill Angela Smith Clausen, and father-in-law, Kenneth King.
A celebration of Scott's life will be held at Newcomer Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay, on Saturday, March 19, 2022 with friends and family visiting from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm and a Prayer Service at 3:00 pm.
