Scott Mertens, 67, of Green Bay, WI, passed away on November 2, 2024 following complications of ALS.
Scott was born and lived in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He was married on July 19, 1980 to Kathi Milauskas, in Sheboygan, WI. After receiving his first degree as an Optician, Scott managed a Kindy Optical in Manitowoc. He later received his second degree in Information Technology working for A.C. Nielsen Marketing Research, Dun & Bradstreet, Dean Medical of Madison, ShopKo Stores, and at Kimberly-Clark. He enjoyed retirement positions at the Greater Green Bay YMCA and Bellin College.
His interests included spending time with his family and friends, hiking, camping, kayaking, sailing, photography, spending time in state and national parks, great movies, awesome music, and craft beer. If he could make you smile or laugh, it would make his day.
Scott is survived by his wife, Kathreen Mertens; their son, Neal Mertens; and his sister, Sharon Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Mertens, and his mother, Ivy Mertens (Pechman) of Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
Scott wishes to thank his family, friends, The ALS Association, Unity Hospice and the doctors and nurses at Bellin Hospital for their love and support. His message to you: "May we meet again."
Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (340 S Monroe Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301). A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to go towards a tree or bench at Green Isle Park, where Scott enjoyed daily excursions in his wheelchair.
