Scott R. Elsner

Scott R. Elsner "Hawkeye", 57 gained his wings on Monday night, August 16, 2021. Scott was born on September 4, 1963 to the late Audrey G. (Bloy) Elsner and Gerald E. Elsner. He died at home of heart failure on what would have been his Mom's 88th birthday. Scott attended Ashwaubenon schools and was in the class of 1981. He adored life and had many interests. As a youngster he loved to perform magic and it continued to be one of his lifelong hobbies. You could often see him riding around on his unicycles while juggling, as well as playing the goalie position for local hockey teams into adulthood. He enjoyed snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, attending concerts, listening to music, performing in rock bands, going to Packers and Brewers games, camping in Goodman Park, staying at the family cabin in Silver Cliff, Wisconsin, and taking road trips.

Scott moved to Minnesota in the mid 1990s where he pursued a career in car sales for over 10 years, at which he was very successful. He and his daughter Cameryn came back home to Ashwaubenon in 2004 where they loved being near and actively involved with his parents and family. Hawkeye's Trading Post, the largest smoke and pawn shop in Green Bay, was named after his beloved African Gray parrot, and was established in Spring of 2008 in the old "Spooky's" building on Velp Avenue before moving twice and settling at its current location on Shawano Avenue. Scott was always business minded; he got a thrill out of "wheeling and dealing", which he learned from his Dad. He was loyal to his customers and always made time to sit with them and listen to what they had going on.

In March 2005 he met the love of his life, Christine Reinke, and they built their life together until his passing. He was a season holder of Green Bay Packers tickets and an avid fan; he loved parking cars and putting on big celebrations at every home game since he and Christine lived a block from Lambeau. Scott would have done anything in this world for his children and grandchildren, who he cherished with all his heart. He was especially close to his youngest daughter, Cameryn who he raised on his own since infancy, and was so proud of all she accomplished.

Scott grew closer in his spiritual walk with Jesus over the past couple of years, speaking often of his strong faith. He is survived by his devoted partner, Christine Reinke of Ashwaubenon, daughters Livia Scott of Minnesota, Cameryn Elsner (Brent Haines) of Green Bay, stepdaughters Shawntel Hoffman (Eric Mott) of Two Rivers, and Hailey Reinke (Lucas Jenswold) of Kimberly, and grandchildren Logan, Cal, Brody, August, Isaac, and Skyler. He is also survived by three brothers, Robyn (Cyndi) Elsner, Keith (Patti) Elsner, and Daniel (Laura) Elsner, Christine's brother, Shane (Karen) Reno, and her father, Richard (Darlene) Reno, as well as nieces and nephews, Chelsea (Mike), Bobby, Mary Kay, Eric (Debra), Roxanne (Mike), Alicia (Joe), Amber, Kristen (Sean), and Tim (Julie). He will be especially missed by his dear, lifelong friends, Stacy Vandenput, Brian Neuser, Brent Howell, Scott Jansa, and Scott Manty. He leaves behind his beloved feathered friends, "Hawkeye", "Paco", "Blue" and "Shae", his dog, "Calico", and two cats, "Alice" and "Benz".

Scott was preceded in death very recently by his parents, Gerald and Audrey Elsner, and Christine's mom and stepfather, Charlotte A. Gordon and George "Tom" Gordon, which was a source of deep sorrow. He also mourned the losses of his cats, "Nala"and "Clyde", a cockatoo named "Tasha", and canine pals "Mercedes", "Tuey", and "Yoda". In June of this year he said "goodbye" to his best four legged friend, a German Shepherd named "Cooper" who was alwaysby his side.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S Monroe Ave, Green Bay, WI on September 4th, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 3:00p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Pastor Robb McClintock of Bethany Methodist Church will be officiating.
