Ruth A. Harmer, age 88, passed away peacefully, June 12, 2017 at a local nursing facility. She was born June 16, 1928 on the family farm in Breed, WI to the late Frank and Pearl Fonferek. Ruth married Douglas F. Harmer, November 15, 1947 at the Mount Olive Lutheran Parsonage in Suring, WI and he preceded her in death, June 28, 1957.
Ruth was employed by Americana Nursing Home for 25 years. She was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church, Green Bay, WI.
Family and friends, both young and old, will always remember her quiet, kind and gentle spirit. Ruth lived by the motto "Treat others the way you would want to be treated, and always remember, to say 'Thank you'."
Ruth is survived by: her son, Gary (Susan) Harmer, Green Bay, WI; daughter, Julie (Paul) Tushinski, De Pere, WI; grandchildren, Douglas and Stacy Harmer; great-granddaughter, Kaley Allard; brother, Joseph (Audrey) Fonferek, Suring, WI and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; infant son, Gene; sisters: Ruby, Lorraine and Mavis; daughter-in-law, Judith and other members of the Fonferek and Harmer families.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay) on her birthday, Friday, June 16, 2017 from 10 AM to 11 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Julie Wrubbel-Lange officiating. Interment will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Green Bay, WI.
