Ronald J. De Lain

Ronald "Ron" J. De Lain, age 87, of Green Bay, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.

He was born on October 18, 1930, in Wauwautosa, to the late Harold & Verna (Dulik) De Lain. Ron graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1948. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a fire fighter before being honorably discharged in 1952. He worked for Northwest Engineering Corporation. He later worked as a deputy for Brown County Sheriff's Office and was the Chief Jailor from 1967-1970. He was elected as Brown County Clerk in 1971 and served until he retired in 1992. After retirement, Ron was elected on the Brown County Board of Supervisors where he was also the chairperson.

Ron was very involved in his community, he was the director of the Green Bay Boys Choir, was a member of the American Heart Association of Wisconsin, he was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, serving as a lector, canter, choir director and served on several committees.

He married Beverly J. Luedtke on January 2, 1954, at St. John the Evangelist Church. Together they shared 64 years of marriage.

In more recent years, Ron enjoyed going to the "Old Farmstead" where he would visit the family farm, shared time with members of his Belgian Heritage and also visit the Shrine of the Our Lady of Good Help.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; four children, Cheryl (Michael Winters) De Lain, Micki (Greg) Oettinger, Vicki De Lain and RJ De Lain; four grandchildren, Nicole (Chris), Andrew (Jackie), Jamie and Jed; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ali, Kayla, Kendra, Anna, Ayla, Leah and Hailey; sister, Kathleen Buntin; and lifelong friend, Paul Plog.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Beverly, Lee, Harry, Joan, Gene, Pat and David.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, June 2, 2018, in the Mazzuchelli Hall at St. John the Evangelist Church, 411 St. John Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Allouez Catholic Cemtery.
