Roger F. Peer

January 15, 1952 — February 2, 2014

Roger F. Peer, "Rog", age 62, of Allouez passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 2nd, 2014. Unexpectedly, his heart gave out; most likely from extreme overuse during Roger's loving and generous lifetime.

He was born in Brooklyn N.Y. on January 15th, 1952 to the late Joseph and Helen (Walsh) Peer. Green Bay was "home" for most of his life, and after graduating from East High School in 1969. For 31 years – one half of his 62 years with us, he served his country; first as a volunteer in the Army. Then, after returning home to Green Bay, he spent 29 years of "all weather" service with the John P Coffrin Post Office.

Roger was a man of peace. Nature, in all its forms, be it the squirrels he befriended in his yard; the beauty of a dew drop, or the simple wonder of a flower in bloom soothed his soul.
Yet, contrary to this, Roger treasured his time with his friends. Tuesday night Dominoes; Packer and Badger games; will now bear witness to Rogers quiet, but sure, presence from above.
Roger had just begun a communication with his cousin Neil Deghan from Australia. He was fascinated in anticipation of learning more about his Irish heritage.

Continuing his service to others; Roger cherished his many years as a volunteer mentor at the N.E.W. Curative Rehabilitation center.
Many charities will also miss his presence, such as his favorite – SmileTrain, an organization that helped children in developing countries born with disfiguring clefts. Roger reached out, so that they may one day smile.

Survivors include his beloved brother John, now residing in Farmington, N.M; his niece Debbie, and Sister In-Law Bonnie (Dawes) of Green Bay; and his extended family who includes Neil Deghan, of Australia. Roger will also be missed by his many friends in Green Bay, Colorado and throughout the country.

Greeting him in heaven were his mother Helen, father Joseph and brother Barry and niece Diane. His recently departed friend, Eric, will join him in continuing their Domino Tuesdays.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 6:00pm on Friday, February 7, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay. A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Friday at the funeral home concluding with full military honors.

Celebrating his Life, in a gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday February 8th; at Mariner Supper Club, 2222 Riverside Drive, Green Bay, 4pm to 7pm. Cocktail hour begins at 4pm, with hors d'oeuvres available from 5pm to 7pm.
