Robert V. Collard
October 18, 1935 — February 17, 2014
Robert V. Collard, 78, of Green Bay, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014, after a courageous, hard-fought battle with lung cancer.
He was born October 18, 1935, in Green Bay, Wisconsin to the late Norbert & Alice (LaPlante) Collard.
Soon after graduating from Green Bay West High School, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country, watching our skies as a Radar Control Operator for six years.
On November 29, 1958 he married Judith Engum who survives, along with their love, after 55 years of marriage.
He was a man of many, if not all, talents. A master gardener, craftsman, artist, photographer, brother, father, grandfather and overall family man who earned a living early on as a Salesman and retired as an Over the Road Driver.
He loved his family as much as the sun. And nothing made him happier than a warm sunny day looking out over his well-manicured garden. His ingenuity and curiosity always led him to discover and perfect a new hobby. He could make, repair or restore anything with his hands. And his latest passion, designing and flying kites, provided a sense of freedom and joy that he shared with his family. Bob, inspired a youthful imagination in everyone he encountered.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judi and their children, Cheryl (Jonathan) Bunker, Mona Aubry, Robb Collard, and Colleen Collard. Eleven grandchildren, Summer, Jessica, Josh, Allison, Abby, Gus, Ashley, Courtney, Evan, Grant and Danny and six great-grandchildren, Silver, Dawson, Chloe, Jasper, Quinn and Ava. He's also survived by his loving siblings, Sandra Zwaschka, Angel (Tom) Diny, Janice Slack, Del (Carol) Collard, Cathy Collard, Joan (Tom) Molling, Patti Collard, Lisa (John) Gegare; along with many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Joyce (Lyle) LaMere and Jeanne Faulkner.
Per Bob's wishes a private service was held. No additional services will be held.
The family would like extend a special thank you to Dr. Winkler and the Green Bay Oncology staff for their compassionate efforts during his battle. And to the Unity Hospice staff for helping to make him comfortable during the final days.
