Robert "Bob" Torresani, age 87, of Green Bay, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 in Manitowoc, WI. His loving wife Joyce and children were by his side in the final weeks of his life. He was born March 10, 1935 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, son of the late John A. and Catherine Lucile (Flanagan) Torresani and was a graduate of Lincoln High School, WI Rapids, Class of 1953.
Bob continued his education at UW-Madison, where he earned his Bachelor's (1957) and Master's (1962) Degrees in Physical Education. While in school he played 2nd Base for the UW-Madison Baseball Team and served in the Army's ROTC program. After earning his teaching license, Bob taught for the Rudolph, Blair and Merrill School Districts, eventually relocating to Green Bay where he taught History and Phy. Ed. and coached basketball at Green Bay East until retiring from teaching in 1974. During his years of teaching and coaching, Bob regularly officiated basketball and football at both the high school and college levels. After retiring from teaching, he worked for many years in the sale of sports apparel.
On June 2, 1962 Bob married Joyce Wilke. They shared 60 years of marriage and were blessed with 5 children.
Bob was a sports enthusiast and a talented athlete. He was generous with his time and talents, volunteering as a youth basketball, baseball and softball coach for both boys and girls. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and friends. Bob and Joyce traveled several times across the country to visit their children and also enjoyed trips to Alaska, Mexico and Ireland.
Bob is survived by his wife Joyce; his 5 children: Matthew (Kris) Torresani, Maria (Mike Boyden) Torresani, Peter (Mary) Torresani, Katherine Torresani and Joseph (Julie) Torresani; 8 grandchildren: John, Isabella, Julie, Sarah, Ruby, Jack Henry, Mia and Lucy and his cousin Edith (Jess) Komidor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jack (Carol) Torresani and his aunts and uncles: Gladys (Al) Bauer, Edith (John) Phillipich, Arturo (Mary) Torresani and Delfino (Gladys) Torresani.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Parish (427 St. John St., Green Bay, WI), Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 10 to 11 AM. A memorial Mass will follow at 11 AM with Fr. Brian Belongia, celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the Green Bay East Athletic Department (Green Bay East High School Attention: Athletic Director - Steph Mathu, 1415 E. Walnut St., Green Bay WI, 54301) in Bob's name are appreciated.
