Robert "Bob Jovi" W. Thompson of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away on February 11, 2023, of heart complications. Bobby was born on December 13, 1969, to Dennis Thompson Apisa and Kathleen Thompson Gubics. He was preceded in death by his father Dennis Apisa, his mother Kathleen Gubics, his stepfather Paul Gubics, and other loved ones.
Bobby is survived by his children Amanda Davis (Nate), Beccee Fischer (Ed), Samantha Thompson (Charles), and Justin Thompson (Railee); sisters Ipo Brownlee, Mapuana Dervaes, Lehuanani Thompson, Valerie Thompson, Lehua Collins (Tommie); brothers Tai Thompson, Michael Gubics (Steph), Kominiko Sila (Chelci), and Anthony Apisa; stepmother Cathy Apisa; grandchildren, and many other family members.
While attending Green Bay East High School, Bobby participated in sports and worked at local establishments. After high school Bobby got married and became a father. He loved being a Dad and developed a passion for music because of his Samoan and Hawaiian upbringing. His Dad was in a Pacific Islands band, and Bobby began singing karaoke. He got his nickname "Bob Jovi", because he loved singing karaoke to all of the Bon Jovi songs.
When we think about Bobby, his smile would light up a room, he gave great bear hugs, he made the most incredible cheesecakes and was known as the "Cheesecake King", but don't ask for a recipe, because he didn't write anything down; it was all in his head. Spending time with his grandchildren, family, friends, writing poetry, and having a good time were just some of the things Bobby valued.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask for a donation to the memorial of Robert W. Thompson.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI 54301, Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 9 AM to 12 NOON. A memorial service will follow at 12 NOON.
