Robert "Yuma" Thomas, 52, of Green Bay, departed this life on Monday, March 7, 2016 at St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Yuma was born September 26, 1963, in Green Bay, son of Winnifred (McLester) Thomas and the late Robert Lee Thomas. He was a graduate of Seymour High School class of 1981. Yuma began his career as a Car Salesman, and later as a waiter at several area restaurants including the Wild Onion and Oneida Golf and Riding Club. Yuma was also the owner and operator of Sister's Bread and Yuma's Restaurant. He was a member of the Oneida Nation and employed by the Oneida Casino as a Black Jack Dealer. Yuma was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan, enjoyed reading and listening to audio books. He enjoyed singing and was a former member of the Barbershoppers, but his true love was golfing. In his spare time he enjoyed watching the History Channel, rummaging and thrifting with his family. Yuma truly missed his calling because of his green thumb. He was a wonderful friend and loved to make people laugh and was loved by all.
His memory lives on with his mother Winnifred and his Grandma Pearl McLester of Oneida, and his siblings: Tina (Greg) Roskom of Oneida, Lee (Paula) Thomas of De Pere, Corinna (Tracy) Charles of Oneida. He also leaves his nieces and nephews: Tavia (Shoshannah), Cassandra, Isaiah, Amanda, Seth, Robert, Wynonna, and Ciara, along with two great nephews, Matthias and Micaiah and many extended family. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Rosetta and VanRoy Thomas and Lee G. McLester II.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 11th from 4 - 7 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 7 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
