Robert "Bob" M. Joppe, age 89, of Green Bay, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016. He was born June 18, 1926 in Green Bay, son of the late August and Ella (Marquardt) Joppe and graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1944.
Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation and served his country from 1944 until 1946, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant PVT and PVC. He served during WWII and the Korean Conflict, earning a Purple Heart medal for his bravery. After his honorable military discharge, Bob received his Apprentice Indenture from NWTC in 1948 and was employed by Lindquist Machine Company as a tool and die maker.
Robert married Margaret Hansen in Green Bay, August 15, 1953 and together they shared 62 loving years of marriage and raised 4 children. Bob was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and his faith was very important to him. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bob's other past times included bowling and golfing. Spending time with his family was time most dear to Bob's heart.
Robert is survived by his wife, Margaret; 4 children: Matt (Laura McNamara), Ann, Mark (Linda) and Jean Joppe (Alicia Guerro); 6 grandchildren: Christopher, Melissa, Lauren, Andrew, Emily and Ellen Joppe; a great-grandson, Mason Joppe; Susan Joppe; niece, Sally (Kevin) Brick and sister-in-law, Carma Hansen.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Frederick, Carl and Paul Joppe.
Friends and relatives may call at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, (321 S. Madison St., Green Bay) on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 10 to 10:45 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with full military honors. Interment will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Grace Lutheran Church in Bob's name are appreciated.
