Robert E. Kanugh, age 86, of Suamico, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Sunday, December 17, 2023, with his wife at his side. He was born March 25, 1937 in Green Bay, WI, son of the late Edward and Evelyn (Klimasewski) Kanugh and was a graduate of Pulaski High School.
Bob enlisted in the US Army, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1963. After his military service, Bob worked for Cliff-Wall Olds for 49 years. He married Grace Hodkiewicz and they shared 63 blessed years of marriage and adventures.
Bob and Grace shared a love of boating. Together they traveled extensively across the Great Lakes. They also enjoyed snowmobiling in the wintertime. Bob was a legendary snowmobile racer, rarely losing an event he entered with his team, "The Blue Barons", which included his wife, Grace. Robert was an avid Polka enthusiast and played many of the instruments. He was a dedicated participant in Pulaski Polka Days and provided Polka music at many area weddings. His faith was very important to him, serving in many capacities at St. Benedict Parish, Suamico, including The Spirit of Isaiah Choir.
Robert is survived by his wife, Grace "Boots"; his precious pet poodle, Gigi; sisters, Patricia (Bob) Budz and Carol (David) La Count; sister-in-law, Evelyn Hodkiewicz, brother and sister-in-law, John (Pat) Hodkiewicz; Godchildren: Peter Hodkiewicz, Kevin Hodkiewicz, Bonnie Sorenson, Karen Sigl; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Dominic and Anne Hodkiewicz and sisters and brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be held at St. Benedict Parish (3370 Deerfield Ln., Suamico, WI), Friday, December 22, 2023 from 10:30 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, followed by full military honors. Burial will be in St. Benedict Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to a charity of your choosing, in Bob's name, are appreciated.
