Robert S. Grothman

December 23, 1954 — June 5, 2021

Robert Steven "Rob" Grothman, 66, of Green Bay, entered eternal life on Saturday, June 5, 2021 after a battle with cancer. He was born on December 23, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri and baptized into Christ on March 6, 1955. Rob received a Bachelor's Degree in Business and a Masters of Administrative Science from University of Wisconsin Green Bay. He worked 40 years at Bilfinger Industrial Services as a construction and safety superintendent until his retirement in 2015. He was looking forward to his next job of being the world's greatest Grandpa.

Rob was an active member of Christ of the Bay Lutheran Church, serving as the treasurer for nine years and then as the president of the congregation until May 2021. Rob started the community garden on the church property and was affectionately known as the Garden Czar. Rob was committed to Christian education and played a key role in the founding of Green Bay Trinity Lutheran School in 2003 with an initial enrollment of 6 students which has now grown to over 100 students.

Rob enjoyed cycling, in one year completing more than 5,000 miles of rides including a week riding across Iowa, running local 10Ks, and yoga. As a sports fan, he preferred to listen to Packers and Brewers games on the radio and attended as many of his children's sporting events as possible. In addition to sports, he enjoyed reading, volunteering and camping with the Boy Scouts, and writing his annual Christmas letter which was widely anticipated each year.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Debra Sue (Bosley) Grothman, their two sons, Samuel Ray (Darci) and Maxwell Steven Grothman, mother, Charlotte (Gregory) Grothman, one grandson Samuel Rye Grothman and numerous other relatives. He was a friend to all, near and far. Rob was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Ray Grothman.

Visitation will be at Christ of the Bay Lutheran Church 450 Laverne Drive, Green Bay, Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Nathan Lewis officiating.
