Rita M. "G.G." Ransom, 90, Green Bay, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday, March 9, 2013. She was born June 5, 1922, in De Pere to the late Louis and Nellie (Albers) Calaway. Rita married Charles "Chuck" Paulick in May of 1948; they had two daughters together before Chuck passed away in 1961. Rita remarried Allan Ransom in 1971 and he also preceded her in death. Rita worked at Saranac Glove Company for many years until her retirement.
Rita was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and quilted with the mission society. She volunteered at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church since its beginning and also at St. Vincent De Paul. Rita enjoyed gardening, doing crafts, bowling, and especially shopping with her granddaughters. G.G. (Great-Grandma) loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Cyndee (Bob) Klaus; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Dan) Conway and Sara (Ryan) Horkman; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Tynan, and Delaney Conway, and Nolan, Haiden, and Kallen Horkman; and sister, Geneva Ambrosius.
Rita was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Paulick-Thebo; infant, granddaughter, Melissa Klaus; infant, great-grandson, Wilson Horkman; sister, Marion (Jim) Van Vonderen; brother, Don (Sharon) Calaway; and brother-in-law, Jim Ambrosius.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay from 4:00pm until 7:00pm with a parish prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 139 S. Madison St., Green Bay from 10:00am until 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Thursday at 11:00am with Rev. John Girotti officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
Rita's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Unity Hospice, Home Instead, and Allouez Parkside Village for the loving care and compassion they showed her. The family would also like to thank all of their family, friends, and Rita's neighbors for the love and support.
